The Miami area is gearing up for the super bowl. Some football players, like Bryant McKinnie of the Minnesota Vikings, have already been partying up and down Ocean Drive. The big offensive tackle and ex-Hurricane Tweeted about being clubbing at Mansion last week. However, the big guy did not wake up in time to make practice and was dismissed from the Pro Bowl’s NFC team. Whoops!

Local businesses have a lot to look forward to. The super bowl will be bringing an influx of capital via tourism to the area. Strip clubs will certainly benefit from the male population that of course dominates the demographics of football fans. Also, Shula’s steak house is getting some good press as Man Vs. Food host Adam Richmond will take on a 48 oz steak during halftime of the Super Bowl.

Other Miami area notes…

The Pro Bowl was played in Miami yesterday, with the AFC winning 41-34. The victory was sealed by Chris Johnson’s 2 yard touchdown run.

Strikeforce, a mixed martial arts association, held an event in Miami this past weekend. Herschel Walker headlined the event and won his MMA debut in the main event.

The South Beach Wine & Food Festival is also coming up in February. The gala event takes place right on South Beach and features many of the top local restaurants as well as world class wine companies showing off their private stock. It’s a great place to not only sample the great food from around South Beach and Miami, but also to sample many of the best wines from around the globe.

February certainly brings some interesting events to Miami….also leading up to the Super Bowl, Bud Light is hosting parties every evening leading up to the famous Bud Bowl, which takes place during the Super Bowl’s halftime. Don’t miss out on all of the Miami events happening just around the corner in February of 2010.
