Little Havana Wachovia Bank Robbed

The Wachovia bank in Little Havana (Southwest 8th Street or Calle Ocho to most of you) was robbed, according to a story that was first reported in the Miami Herald.  Here is the excerpt published on MiamiHerald.com:

“A man robbed a Wachovia bank in Brickell Tuesday, slipping a threatening note under the counter and making off with an untold amount of cash, according to police.

Miami police said the yet unidentified man walked into the bank at 169 SW Eighth St. at 11:15 a.m., got in line with others and approached the counter. He then handed the bank teller a note demanding cash, police said.

Witnesses told police he walked out and disappeared. Cmdr. Delrish Moss, a department spokesman, said the man was not seen getting into a car near the bank.

He must know the area well, given that he left on foot, Moss said.

Police described the man as six feet tall, wearing a yellow shirt and camouflage pants.

The bank remained closed Tuesday afternoon, as detectives reviewed surveillance video tapes showing the robbery. Police are expected to released the video tapes Tuesday evening.”
