Canes Open up Monday Night vs. Florida State

by Terry Bender

For all of you CANES fans, the mighty Hurricanes open up Monday night versus their arch rival Florida State Seminoles on ESPN.  The Canes have a mostly Sophomore dominated roster, led by Quarterback Jacory Harris, who is in his second year at the helm of the Canes offense.  The Canes go into the game as 6 point underdogs according the Las Vegas, and with only one backup QB on the roster.

This is a trying year for Randy Shannon’s team.  His young squad showed many flashes of success last year when Harris and former QB Robert “My Dad and I are too good for the U” Marve rotated for the Canes.  Many people in the area are calling this season a make-or-break for Shannon, and a win versus the ‘Noles would be a big jumpstart that could immediately catapult the Canes back into their normal position in the top 25.

All eyes will be on them as it’s the only nationally televised college game next Monday Night.  Go Canes!

Today’s match-ups are some good ones as well.  Nick “I’m not leaving the Dolphins” Saban’s Alabama plays Virginia Tech in a battle fo top ten teams.  Also, SEC powerhouse Georgia plays at Oklahoma State.  For week one of college, it’s certainly a treat to have so many powerhouse games.
